Leanne Li
Myers Walk
Myers Walk
◎ That evening
Leanne Li
That evening
The darkness had not yet fallen, yet darkness was upon us
Myers Walk was an unbeaten track
The anchored boats held their breath
Letting the love birds swing wildly over the Thames
That evening
The boat swept out of the harbour on a surge of tears
Myers Walk locked up the
hustle and bustle of thoughts from
the surrounding commercial buildings
The wind stirred the willow branches
dipped in the river
Blue sky and white clouds embraced
Your hand held up my hand
That evening
Seagulls twitched their wings and spun in the stretch of the Thames
Like the hidden children far away
Occasionally peeping into the Garden of Eden
Spotting and laughing
My hair wrapped around your cufflink
because of your fondling with deep feeling
That evening
The wind kept on kissing the air
As your lip touched my lip gently
The waves left faint water ripples in my heart
Wreaths swept away.
Listening to my poems
Making comments on current affairs
The strings of my heart
playing in your charming smile
That evening
The darkness still had not come
Reaching out arms
Closing eyes
Let our hearts dissolve together in Myers Walk
That evening
Fireworks faraway slid into the night sky
The blue sky of hope rose to the top
I picked up a pen
Drew a piano in your woods
All 88 keys filled with your name
